I read a lot, and in my day job, I’m a romance novel editor. So a lot of my time is spent thinking about emotion, conflict, storytelling, relationship-building, project management and the swiftly changing nature of publishing.

But I also mull over things like sociology, ecology, work-life balance, politics, medical anthropology, education, entrepreneurial endeavors, farming, urban design and ROI.

My husband works on the Web, so he points me to new tools to try, new games to play, new ideas to process.

I also parent a kid, maintain friendly relations with my neighbors (who live with me in the best neighborhood in Brooklyn), participate in my kid’s progressive education and think about my family in GA, a lot.

On this blog, the subject matter will probably be heavy on publishing, but I may also ramble on about kids or efficiency or Garden and Gun. There’s more parenting and daily life stuff at With Charlie.

If you stopped by this blog because you write or read romance, thanks. And, just for you . . .

A little background
I have loved romance novels from the age of 9, when I stumbled on my great-aunt’s musty-smelling copy of Sweet, Savage Love. My aunt was a spinster missionary in Mexico for many years, and the book was stuck behind shelves of classics and religious texts. Maybe she needed it for research? I’ll never know, because I was too embarrassed to ask. In SSL, the heroine is kidnapped and mauled, taken to live in the Mexican desert by a hard-bitten desperado. Not exactly hearts and flowers, but the heroine saw a world outside her own and found love. I was hooked.

For me, reading is about having fun and being entertained or learning something new. I choose a good story over fussy writing every time, but I’m a sucker for when the two get married and have fast-paced, well-written offspring.

If you want to find me, you can email me: stacyboydtheblog [at] gmail [dot] com. Or, you can comment on the blog, follow me on Twitter or friend me on Facebook. I’m also on Goodreads and LinkedIn, and experimenting with Quora and Formspring.
